Spotted Jelly

When we take time to explore in the woods or fields, sometimes we make exciting discoveries! Have you every seen something in nature that was completely new to you? Something that you had never seen before? This happened to the Gumboot kids as they solved The Case of The Spotted Jelly.

I just want to be a frog,
sitting here on a log.
Flicking my tongue at flies,
croaky voice and big round eyes.
I couldn’t dream of a better life,
I can’t think of a greener life!

Frogs are fascinating creatures to observe. Can you hop like a frog? Bend down really low with your knees out to each side, place your hands on the floor. Now push hard with your legs and boost your self up in the air! Once you can do this, you are ready to go outside and play LILY PAD HOP!  CLICK HERE to download the free printable with all the instructions.

We would love to see pictures of your LILY-PAD HOP course! Post on Facebook or Instagram and tag @gumbootkids using #gumbootkids.

Scout's Mindful Moment...

Notice how frogs sit so still & alert. Try sitting still like a frog. Cross your legs and place your hands on your knees. Breath slowly, in through your nose and out through your mouth. Frogs can sit still for a long time, then suddenly...HOP!
